Antibody testing for COVID-19 is now available. This cannot be billed to insurance. It involves a blood test and results are usually available within 72 hours. The cost is CI$60. It is not known how long immunity will last. If you have a positive antibody test, (positive IgG), you have been exposed to the virus in the past and you may have immunity. If you are exposed to COVID-19 again, you may develop symptoms or you may be asymptomatic and you may still be able to infect people you come into contact with.

A negative antibody test does not mean that you did not have the virus in the past, it means that when the blood test was done the antibodies had either not yet developed if it was a recent infection or are no longer present.

For more information or to find out if you are a candidate for testing please discuss with your doctor.
